Today I am on blog tour for Roses are Red by Miranda
Rijks thank you, Emma, at damppebbles for the tour invite and gifted eBook. Usually
when I am on tour, I usually do a miniature review but with Roses are Red I couldn’t
condense it down i had so much to say.
This is the first novel from Miranda I have read and I
was absolutely hooked and I really enjoyed her writing style. It was easy to
get lost in Lydia’s world with the books captivating description of places,
characters and relationships, it was impossible to not be sucked in. Given our
current situation I need a book that grabs you and pulls you in and this is one
of them, it didn’t let me go. Miranda
does a great job keeping the reader engrossed and on the edge of their seat
throughout. Roses are Red is a thrilling tale that keeps you on the edge of
your seat until the very end.
Lydia and her husband Adam run a successful craft company
and have two kids Mia and Oliver and a beautiful house, expensive cars and the
wealth to do as they wish. Everything seems pretty sweet and how life should be
but not everything is as it seems and Lydia and Adam's marriage is ending. Then
Adam’s body is tragically dead (Not a spoiler), she soon finds herself on
the polices radar.
Not long after, Lydia meets Patrick through online dating
and she quickly falls for him. Remember what people say, if it seems too good
to be true it probably is (let's be honest my blog isn’t the place for all the
lovey stuff). She can’t believe her luck and it’s not long before he is a big
part of her life but things begin to go wrong for Lydia her business and family
life all seem to fall apart. DUM DUM DUUUUUUM!!!
The characters are
well written and realistic; especially Lydia’s character you can help but feel
sympathetic for her. I liked Lydia and my heart went out to her, but she did
frustrate me in a friendly shake some sense into her way. All Lydia wants is to
be loved but she is extremely naïve but it wasn’t the be-all and end-all of her
story. If given the chance I would love to read a sequel and find out more
about Lydia’s life following on from the events of this book.
Roses Are Red is a
great book to escape into its fast-paced and will have you hooked as you get
swept up in the drama. This book was intense and enjoyable and that the twist
at the end. In the end, everything came together perfectly to leave a very
satisfying ending but I as I’ve already mentioned I would like a follow-up.
