Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Season One Review

Hello Readers,

Skeleton Crew on Disney+ has rekindled my faith in Star Wars TV shows. After watching The Acolyte, I was hesitant to dive into another series, unsure if it could live up to the expectations set by its trailer. However, Skeleton Crew genuinely exceeded my expectations. Spoilers ahead.

I am using a poster image I have found through google (Fair use under the copyright act sections 29 and 30 under use for a review). Spoiler free review.

There was a lot that could have gone wrong with this series. When the first episode premiered, I saw a couple of people on social media compare it to The Goonies and Stranger Things, which set the bar high but also made me cautious.

My only hiccup was more of a personal issue but it was figuring out where in the Star Wars timeline the series was set. It turns out I just needed to be a little patient to find out it is set in the familiar post-Return of the Jedi era, possibly running alongside The Mandalorian.

Star Wars needs more stories like Skeleton Crew. What stood out most for me was how the series brought the fun and adventurous tone back into the franchise. The series reignited my sense of wonder for the galaxy far, far away and reminded me why we fell in love with it in the first place. Its adventures bring back the magic and excitement that made me excited for the franchise again. Skeleton Crew is a powerful reminder of how incredible a Star Wars series can be when it’s done right.

The character growth and progression of the kid’s character arcs was perfectly handled, making their journey both engaging and heartfelt. I also appreciated that the parents stayed on the side lines for most of the series.

I’m concerned that some people may have overlooked Skeleton Crew after the disappointment of The Acolyte, potentially missing out on a truly great series. I, for one, am already excited to see where this journey takes us next.
