Wolfsong by TJ Klune Review

Hello Readers,

I’ll admit, this book sat on my TBR pile for way too long. After reading Under the Whispering Door and being completely emotionally wrecked (in the best way possible), I knew TJ’s writing had a way of getting under my skin. But nothing could have prepared me for how deeply this story would hit me.

From the very first page, this book drew me in and took me by surprise in the best way imaginable. Told entirely from Ox’s perspective, it immerses you in the world of Green Creek, a small, unassuming town in Oregon. At first glance, it seems quiet and ordinary, but the relationships within this story are anything but.

One of the things I loved most was how authentic and beautifully complex the connections between the characters felt. Ox’s relationships with the people around him are simple yet deeply meaningful. The way they interact is everything heart wrenching one moment, hilarious the next, and always heart warming.

And yes, it’s technically a shifter story, but it’s far from typical. TJ puts a fresh spin on werewolf lore, making it feel new and exciting. But honestly, the supernatural elements are just the backdrop. At its heart, this is a story about love, identity, and finding where you truly belong.

Ox’s journey is unforgettable. In this book we are with him for a decade, he grows from a quiet, uncertain kid into someone strong, complicated, and confident. Experiencing this transformation through his eyes makes it even more powerful. The writing beautifully reflects his character growth, evolving from simple and hesitant to rich and expressive. It’s effortlessly addictive and I couldn’t put it down.

But what really moved me was the love woven throughout this story all kinds of love. Familial love, friendship, romance... it’s all so raw and genuine. This book took me on an emotional ride, from heart-wrenching angst to pure joy. I laughed, I cried, and sometimes I did both at once. Even amid all the drama and action, it’s the relationships that truly stand out.

The character development is incredible, especially for the two main guys. Their growth is gradual and authentic, particularly as they rebuild their confidence after everything they go through. It felt so real and left a huge impact on me.

This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster, breaking my heart and then putting it back together again. I genuinely loved every character they’re so well written that they feel like real people you know and care about.

If you’re looking for a story that’s heartfelt, gripping, and full of unforgettable characters, I can’t recommend this book enough. It’s a beautiful, emotional journey that will stay with me for a long time.
