Hello Readers,
Jennifer Saint takes the many threads of the queen of the gods’ mythology and weaves them into a story that feels both timeless and fresh. For anyone who loves Greek mythology, this is a must-read as it brings a whole new perspective to tales we’ve heard before, and casts Hera not just as the jealous wife, but as a powerful, complicated woman living under a deeply unfair system.

I’ll be honest: I’ve never been Hera’s biggest fan. I’ve always found it frustrating that she seemed to punish Zeus’s lovers instead of holding him accountable. But Jennifer managed something I didn’t think was possible she made me feel empathy for Hera. This version of her is layered, vulnerable, and so much more relatable than I ever expected.
The book explores themes like power, control, and the quiet rage that builds when women are constantly forced to give up parts of themselves. But it never feels heavy-handed. It’s beautifully written, thoroughly researched, and it sticks close enough to the original myths to feel authentic, while still offering fresh insights.
What I especially loved was Hera’s personal growth and how she slowly begins to reckon with her past and tries to change, while Zeus stubbornly clings to the old ways. That contrast was striking and really highlighted Hera’s strength and resilience.
This story had me completely hooked from start to finish. I came away with a deeper appreciation for so many of the characters and even learned some new bits of mythology along the way. If you're into retellings that give ancient figures real emotional depth, Hera is must read.
