Hearts That Cut by Kika Hatzopoulou Review

Hello Readers,

As an avid fan of Threads That Bind, I couldn’t wait to return to this world, and Kika did not disappoint. Hearts That Cut takes everything I loved about the first book and turns it up a notch, delivering a sequel that’s sharp, surprising, and full of heart.

Please note that I don’t own the rights to the cover image the image is being used under Fair Use for review and review purposes, in accordance with sections 29 and 30 of the Copyright Act. The cover is too pretty to be black and white on my kindle.

Hearts That Cut picks up right where Threads That Bind left off, following Io and Bianca as they chase the golden thread of the gods and deal with the fallout from book one. From the very first chapter, I seriously couldn’t put it down.

The worldbuilding in this book is once again incredible. Kika effortlessly mixes Greek mythology with magic and even adds bit of sci-fi in a way that feels unique. The details from the different cultures, the vivid settings, the little mythological touches really makes the story feel alive.

This sequel takes everything I loved about the first book and cranks it up from a more intense mystery , higher stakes and emotional turmoil. There are themes of family trauma, fear of change, and that deep longing for love.

As the finale to this duology, Hearts That Cut was everything I hoped for and more. It’s magical, emotional, fast-paced, and completely unforgettable. Kika nailed this conclusion and my only complaint is that I selfishly wish there was more.
