Drop Dead Famous by Jennifer Pearson Review

 Hello Readers,

When global pop star Blair Baker is murdered mid-performance at her hometown concert, the world goes into shock. But for her younger sister Stevie, it’s a personal tragedy. To figure out what actually happened, Stevie teams up with Blair’s superfan, Colby, and starts pulling back the curtain on Blair’s glitzy, heavily curated life. Before long, they realize nearly everyone in Blair's circle is hiding something.

I was hooked right away. The opening scene hits hard, and the plot constantly throws out new clues and twists that made me question every single character. I changed my mind about the killer at least five times, and even when I thought I had it nailed, the story still caught me off guard.

Stevie and Colby’s dynamic was easily one of my favourite parts. Colby brings just enough humour to balance out the heavier themes of grief and murder, and the romance is subtle enough that it never overshadows the mystery itself.

Beyond the whodunit, the book tackles some surprisingly heavy topics toxic workplaces, abuse of power, and industry corruption without losing its momentum. Stevie’s grief feels grounded and raw, which gives the story a real emotional anchor.

My only real gripe is the pacing near the end. That said, it’s still a clever, fast-paced, and emotional YA thriller. Highly recommend picking this one up if you're a fan of celebrity drama and twisty mysteries.

Stay Spooky
