Books That Broke Me

Hello Readers,

Today I thought I would share the books that have made me cry this year and I don’t mean a few silly tears dear Reader I mean full on sobbed my little black heart out.

They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera

Yes there is a huge ass clue with all the bells and whistle in the title but I under estimated how much this book was going to hurt. I loved this book it is so full of heart it tackles friendship, mortality, and most importantly, what it truly means to live in the moment and made it hurt that much more. I can’t wait to see how the screen adaption turns out.  (Full review here)

Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune

This book really brings into focus what it means to truly be alive and it’s not a bad thing to see beauty in vulnerability. the emotional whiplash is something else in this book how in one book I went from hating Wallace to then making me feel all the sad emotions and actual tears. The other Lauren did warn me the book was going to chew me up and spit me out with all the emotions. (Full review here)

Fifteen Hundred Miles from the Sun by Jonny Garza Villa

I loved Fifteen Hundred Miles from the Sun it’s so raw and it broke my heart at times. Jonny you broke me during chapter 28, it had me in pieces. This book is a reminder that not everyone has love and support when they come out and this might be down to the LGBTQIA+ books I choose to read but not every coming out story is all love, glitter, and rainbows. When Woman Were Dragons by Kelly Barnhill

This is the only book on this list that didn’t make me cry purely out of sadness. There is something so beautiful about letting people go so they become their better self, and this book fully embodied that towards the end. The ending was so perfect but beautifully sad at the same time it’s so hard to explain I don’t think my tears were sad tears more like peaceful tears. (Full review here)
